Natural Sheep Casings 26-28mm an edible natural casings. These sheep casings are generally used for deal for Brockwurst, Frankfurters and Cabanosa.

Tender
Sheep casings are the softest and most tender among all the other types of natural casings. Their elasticity makes them quite malleable to expansion without splitting. They also make that distinctive “Pop” when you bite into it.

Edible
Sheep casings are all-natural, and so they do not need to be removed after cooking. They also have a natural taste and smell that does not interfere with the ingredients of your sausages.

Natural Sheep Casings 26-28mm Product Details:

  • These sheep casings are generally used for deal for Brockwurst, Frankfurters and Cabanosa
  • Casings are bundled into “Butcher Packs” 26 – 28mm (60 yards) in length*
  • Stuffing capacity: approx. 50 lbs.*
  • The casings should always be loose on the stuffing horn
  1. Remove approximate amount you will need.
  2. Place casings in a clean food safe bowl.
  3. Rinse casings of salt under cool running water.
  4. Flush insides of casings to assist in smooth casing application.
  5. For small casings (<42mm): place bowl in cool water to soak for about 2 hours in refrigerator prior to use.
  6. For larger casings (>42mm): place bowl of beef bung, middles and/or rounds in refrigerator to soak overnight prior to use.
  7. Optional for smell control – add ½ tsp baking soda per cup of water.
  8. Optional for tenderizing – squeeze a lemon or a add a tablespoon of white vinegar to soaking water to refresh casings.

Refrigeration
The natural casings should be kept refrigerated until ready for use. Un-refrigerated, these salted casings may give off a strong odor. This is Normal.  Simply put the casings back into the refrigerator and the odor will subside. Natural casings should never be frozen. It affects their integrity after thawing and will cause more blowouts.

    used these last year. good experience. This year was awful. absolutely none were 26-28mm. terrible fight to get them mounted onto our smallest horn. 16-20mm the predominate size. I’ve learned my lesson. No more Sausage maker casings in my kitchen.

    I’ve been making sausage a long time, 20 years. I just ordered these this week and this is the worst batch of casings I’ve ever had. Lucky if they were 2 feet in length. Smaller than should be, closer to snack stick casing. Completely disappointed. Have had great seasonings from here for past 5-10 years but never get casings again.
