Whole Bay Leaves are pungent and have a sharp, bitter taste that goes well with beans, game, lentils, potatoes, risotto, shellfish, and tomatoes. When you use the whole bay leaf, remove from food when cooking is complete.

It’s hard to pin down the flavor of a bay leaf. It is one of the most widely used herbs in sauces, soups, and stews. It has a bitter, spicy, strong and pungent flavor with a cooling undertone.
Usage: If you crush the bay leaf use approximately 1/2 teaspoon for 6 servings.

Shipping: Since I live outside the contiguous states, I want to point out that shipping is usually an issue when ordering products online and that’s how the big online stores beat smaller companies. Both my wife and I use quite a few bay leaves for cooking, sausage making and cured meats so we use a lot of them. The best part for me is the container they come in. Makes it really easy for storage.

Not as ‘fresh’ as other bay leaves. Most leaves arrived broken. They are not going to be easy to use in recipes that call for whole bay leaves, but will work in pickling brines.
